NUSA 2017 - Omaha, Nebraska

Omaha, the largest city in the State of Nebraska, showed 2017 conference attendees how it's "Bridging the Future" for stronger neighbohoods at NUSA's 42nd annual conference. This being the first time it hosted the NUSA conference, organizers in Omaha raised the attendance up to 853 individuals, making it the best-attended NUSA conference since 2004. With inspiring keynote messages from Fred Kent, the founder and president of Projects for Public Spaces, and Joseph Porcelli, a senior strategist with Nextdoor, attendees also had access to more than 55 educational workshops and 18 neighborhood pride tours. Mayor Jean Strothert hosted a welcome reception, where NUSA received the City of Omaha's Community Excellence Award for 2017. Throughout the conference, Omaha also featured local destinations and points of interest, showcasing neighborhoods where revitalization has turned lives around
