Community In The Lead: Community-Based Services
The City of Tacoma has implemented a new approach to partnering with citizens on ongoing neighborhood concerns. This approach is integrated within the city through a program called "Community-Based Services". The key element of this program is to dedicate city enforcement staff to citizens of neighborhoods for the purpose of developing relationships; ensuring that the residents’ priorities become staff priorities.

Panelists will share approaches and experiences on how they mobilized, organized, built and sustained neighborhood organizations in their cities. Workshop participants will be encouraged to engage in the discussion as a way to share their experience and approaches from their cities.
